Especially the protagonist, I feel the need to put a paper bag over his head.Īnd here is my follow-up comment after my original one was deleted:Īh.

The old ones weren't perfect, but something about the new ones just looks really uncanny, like department store mannequins. I'd like to thank the developer for so publicly proving my criticisms of him correct.Īnd for anyone who is wondering how "entitled" I was, here's my original comment: And apparently it doesn't occur to him that if he hadn't been such a thin-skinned child, I wouldn't even have bothered writing this review. Apparently it's unreasonable to believe that you're "entitled" to have an opinion.

So as a mediocre-at-best VN made by a thin-skinned tyrant of a developer who refuses to permit criticism of their work, you shouldn't really bother with it.ĪDDENDUM: Aaaaand exactly as expected, the snowflake dev (note that I mean snowflake in the ACTUAL sense of someone who flies off the handle at the slightest provocation, not the commonly-misused sense of "someone who takes offence at something that was intended to be offensive") upgrades me to a full ban in response to this review and comes here to whine about it by calling me "entitled". Sure as hell ain't gonna fork out for THAT any more.

It's not even terrible, it's still pretty hot, but there was no need to change it anyway, and since it was the game's only really merit, it's just another black mark on its score.Īlso, just to point out, the argument "it's a free game so you have no right to criticise it" doesn't hold up when you're making the second part of the game PAID DLC. Yes, I guess Scarlett Ann's art might be a bit of an acquired taste, but it's a taste I have and I think the new character models just aren't as attractive. The story is dumb, the characters are shallow and largely unlikeable, and the gameplay loop is simultaneously incredibly repetitive (you go through pretty much the same routine of "wake up, go to bathroom, go to breakfast, go somewhere else, go to bed" every day) and incredibly linear (there's barely any reason for it to even be an "open world" game with so little choice about what you can actually DO in it, with only ever one or occasionally two locations you can go to in order to trigger events at any given time). I said I don't like when people give games negative reviews for reasons other than their quality, but honestly speaking, the game ain't any good anyway. You don't like negative feedback? Well I got some honest critique for you right here! Well you don't have to worry about that, Mister High-And-Mighty developer, because I don't need to ever return to your forum. Unsurprisingly, this comment was also deleted and I received a soft ban from the forum snootily telling me that, because it's a free game, negative feedback isn't welcome, and threatening that if I returned after the soft ban expired and continued to do the same, I'd get a permaban. Rather annoyed by this, I made another comment calling the developer out for deleting my comment. I wasn't rude or abusive, but my comment was deleted without a word. When they released the art update, I made a comment saying that I didn't like the new art style, because it was a downgrade from Scarlett Ann's distinctive art, and the main character in particular was unsettling to look at (I think it's the lips compared to the size of the eyes). Normally I hate it when people give games negative reviews for reasons unrelated to their actual quality, but this case of developer misbehavior really was egregious.

As your reputation increases, you'll gain more and more population - and the player with the largest population at the end of the game wins.I'm not allowed to write this review. As your income increases, you'll have more cash on hand to purchase better and more valuable buildings, such as an international airport or a high-rise office building. As your town grows, you'll modify both your income and your reputation. Suburbia is a tile-laying game in which each player tries to build up an economic engine and infrastructure that will be initially self-sufficient, and eventually become both profitable and encourage population growth. Your goal is to have your borough thrive and end up with a greater population than any of your opponents. Use hex-shaped building tiles to add residential, commercial, civic, and industrial areas, as well as special points of interest that provide benefits and take advantage of the resources of nearby towns.
